Bicyclist hit by 2 vehicles in Mesa; drivers arrested for DUIPosted: Updated:
MESA, Ariz. -- A bicyclist is in critical condition after he was struck by two vehicles near U.S. 60 and Higley Road in Mesa Saturday night.
According to Detective Steve Berry with the Mesa Police Department, a male bicyclist was riding northbound on the west side of Higley Road at approximately 6:45 p.m.
As the bicyclist crossed the westbound on-ramp, he was struck by two vehicles turning right onto the on-ramp.
Berry said the first vehicle hit the bicyclist and flipped him in the air. The male then struck the front of the second vehicle before it could come to a stop.
The victim was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center in critical condition.
Berry said both drivers were arrested for DUI.
