New facade for downtown Tucson buildings

Posted: Updated:

It's been a project in the making for years, revamping downtown Tucson. Wednesday, the Beowulf Theater joined the list of Tucson landmarks getting a makeover.

Crews got to work Wednesday morning tearing down the theater's façade, which is part of a larger project designed to spruce up storefronts across the heart of Tucson.

Money allocated to the city through a preservation fund that was started in the 1980's is now helping local businesses get a face lift.

The Screening Room, the Rialto building and the Scott were apart of the first phase.
