A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for a business opening it's doors in Oro Valley.

Oclaro is based out of San Jose California and it provides optical communications and laser solutions. They've opened up a design center near Oracle and Mavinee Drive. An Oclaro executive discussed the new location.

"And as part of the integration we determined that there are just a lot of skills here in Tucson and we decided to consolidate the world wide design of high power laser diodes and packaging here in Tucson," said Scott Dunbar of Oclaro.

Oclaro has awarded two one-year scholarships to one undergrad, and one graduate student in the U of A optical sciences department.
