$4.6 Million in cocaine seized during border stop near Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents seized several bundles of cocaine from a tractor trailer at a Highway 95 checkpoint south of Quartzsite.

The stop happened around 11 a.m. on Saturday when Border Patrol agents took a red tractor trailer for a secondary inspection after a canine alerted agents.

The secondary inspection revealed the trailer was carrying stacks of lumber and three toolboxes containing bundles of cocaine.

Agents seized a total of 57 bundles weighing 147 pounds and carry an estimated street value of $4.6 million.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
