Traffic stop leads to pot bust on I-10Posted: Updated:
TEMPE, Ariz. -- A driver was arrested in a pot bust on Interstate 10 Monday morning.
At approximately 7:25 a.m., a Department of Public Safety officer stopped a Ford Explorer that was weaving on westbound I-10 near Warner Road.
According to DPS, the driver and passenger, both Hispanic males, opened the doors and fled on foot.
A perimeter was set up with assistance from the Phoenix and Tempe police departments. The driver was apprehended in a nearby Circle K parking lot. DPS spokesman Officer Robert Bailey said the other suspect is still on the loose.
Officers found approximately 17 bundles of marijuana with an estimated weight of 200 pounds in the vehicle. The marijuana had an estimated street value of approximately $102,000.
