Tucson traffic: New red light cameras; Road improvements

Posted: Updated:

Two new red light cameras in Tucson began issuing tickets Wednesday night.

If you run the light at speedway and Kolb or grant and swan, you'll receive a citation. The cameras there have been flashing but not issuing warnings until now.

American traffic solutions is the company running the photo enforcement red light cameras for the Tucson police department.

One more camera is going up at Broadway and Craycroft but is postponed until roadwork is finished next month.

Drivers who use La Canada road are advised to find another route for the next week. The Pima County Department of Transportation closed off the intersection of La Canada and Hardy Road Wednesday evening as part of a street improvement project.

The road will be closed beginning at 7:00 P.M. and re-open each morning at 5:30.

Closures will stay in effect until September 29. Crews won't perform any work on weekends.

A east side road project got underway Wednesday night. Tucson city crews will spend a week repaving Broadway from Craycroft to Wilmot. Workers will be out from 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. to make it easier on drivers, but drivers should still expect delays.
