Possible insect contamination sparks Similac powder infant formula recallPosted: Updated:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A recall has been announced and if you're a new parent, it may be on a product that's sitting on your shelf.
Abbott Laboratories says it's voluntarily recalling 5 million containers of Similac infant formula because it may be contaminated with insect parts.
The recall only affects powder formulas, not the liquid variety.
The company says the insect parts could cause stomach ache or digestion problems, although there have been no reports of illness.
If you have questions about products you may already own, you should contact Similac directly at phone 1-800-986-8850.
