Motorcyclist killed on Interstate 10 in West PhoenixPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- A motorcyclist traveling on eastbound Interstate 10 in West Phoenix has died after his bike struck a pickup truck Tuesday morning.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Bob Bailey says the accident occurred at 9 a.m. under the 59th Avenue overpass.
Traffic on the HOV and the number one lane is once again moving.
Bailey says the bike rider, identified as 62-year-old Charles Hawkins of Litchfield Park, was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
The motorcyclist was transported to a Phoenix hospital where he later died.
