Teen who killed and raped woman found guilty, faces life in prisonPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A Phoenix teenager was convicted Monday of stomping to death and sexually assaulting a 39-year-old woman in December 2008.
Jose Quintero was 16 years old when he was arrested for the crime. Police found Helen Coulter's body in a field near 24th Street and Broadway.
She had been kidnapped, raped and beaten before being dumped in a vacant lot.
Police say the two did not know each other but that the woman had called Quintero a racial slur after some type of run-in and Quintero killed her in a fit of rage. An autopsy revealed Coulter died of blunt force trauma.
Quintero faces a sentence of up to life in prison.
