GILBERT, Ariz. -- Tess Rafols introduces us to a Valley woman who will be inducted into the Quilters Hall of Fame in just a few days.

Darlene Reid said she was inspired by the instructor of her first quilting class, which she to nearly 30 years ago, as well as by her grandmother.

"I get an idea, and I can't stop until I carry it out," she said.

Delores Jenisch nominated Reid for the honor.

"I watched and I saw how she shared her expertise, her inspiration. She encouraged novice quilters ... and I saw the quality of their work because of what she did," she explained. "I thought she ought to be thanked, and Quilters Hall of Fame gave us that opportunity."

Some of Reid's work is on display at the Gilbert Historical Museum.
