Tucson police launch violent crime crackdownPosted: Updated:
TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The Tucson Police Department is launching a violent crime initiative as the city deals with a wave of homicides.
Sgt. Brandon Musgrave says the initiative includes an increase in patrols and surveillance in specific problem areas of the city.
Police say the initiative will focus on intelligence gathering when officers patrol around town. They believe information gathered on the street should aid officers in targeting specific crime-infested neighborhoods.
Tucson police say they want the public to be reassured they're in the neighborhoods addressing the crime problem.
