Sunday sets another record highPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – Although the official start of fall is just a few days away, summer is refusing to let go of the Valley of the Sun.
The average high for this date is 98 degrees. At 111, we were well above that on Sunday, shattering the old record of 107. This is the latest in the year we’ve seen daytime highs above 110 degrees.
Some changes are heading our way, though.
A pair of low-pressure systems should bring some relief from the heat, but it is still going to be above average tomorrow.
Plan on a mostly clear night with a low of 83 degrees. Tomorrow we’re looking at a high of 106, followed by 102 on Tuesday.
The Autumnal Equinox is Wednesday night, making Thursday the first full day of fall. We’re forecasting a high of 98 both days, along with a 30 percent chance of showers.
