1 Teen killed, 1 wounded when strangers crash Phoenix house partyPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX – A Phoenix teenager’s party ended with a deadly shooting when a trio of party crashers – strangers, according to the teen – showed up armed with guns, apparently spoiling for a fight.
It happened Saturday night near Belmont and 35th avenues.
The high-school student who threw the party said his parents were out of town. Neighbors describe the teen as a good kid, saying he let them know earlier in the day that he was having a party.
At some point, three men with guns showed up at the house and reportly started fighting with the teen’s friends before opening fire.
An 18-year-old was shot and killed; another teen was wounded and is in critical condition.
One neighbor reported hearing about six shots.
Patsy Short, who lives across the street from the where the shooting took place, said after the initial gunfire, the suspects drove back by the scene in a brown van and opened fire a second time.
Police are searching for the shooters.
One is described as an Hispanic man in his 20s. He’s about 6 feet 3 inches tall and heavyset. He has short hair and a goatee, and was wearing a blue cap and royal blue shirt.
The second suspect is also an Hispanic man in his 20s. He’s 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs about 120 pounds. He was wearing a black Suns jersey.
The third suspect is described only as an Hispanic man. No other details were immediately available.
