Daytime highs come down slowly but surely as fall approachesPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX --With a high of 109 degrees on Saturday, the last weekend of summer is most definitely a record-breaking one.
Saturday's high, hit just after 3 p.m., was the hottest in 30 years. According to the National Weather Service, the record set in 1980 was 107 degrees.
The good news is those daytime highs should start coming down a little bit after tomorrow, although it looks like we'll stay in the triple digits for at least the next several days. The overnight lows should come down to the mid-70s.
Plan on a high of 108 degrees on Sunday, 105 on Monday, and 103 on Tuesday.
The Autumnal Equinox is Wednesday night, which means Thursday is the first full day of fall. We're forecasting 100 degrees.
