Host Bob Lee interviews Charles Higgins and Bill Nordbrock, SCORE Southern Arizona Chapter 689. The Chapter was founded in 2005 and has 35 members. SCORE is America’s premier source of free and confidential small business advice for existing businesses and for start-ups.
Higgins says retired executives as well as at-work professionals volunteer as mentors and as workshop and seminar coordinators. He says the volunteers are real-world professionals with time-tested knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help small businesses succeed. He says counselors are experts in such areas as accounting, finance, marketing, management and business plan preparation. He said many clients have been helped in obtaining business loans.
Nordbrock says the local chapter also provides free and confidential business advice and counseling tailored to meet the needs of most small businesses. He says the Chapter offers workshops, for a modest fee, for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. He says topics covered range from writing a business plan, starting smart, e-commerce and marketing, depending on the current needs of our business community.
Higgins says all SCORE business counselors honor a client's right to proprietary and confidential information. He says client information remains confidential and all SCORE counselors abide by a code of ethics that includes protecting the confidences between client and counselor. He says SCORE has recently launched a podcast series and has information available on Twitter and Facebook.
