Denise Rentschler, City of Tempe -- Healing Field Tribute
Tempe will honor the nearly 3,000 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks at its seventh annual Healing Field tribute. The memorial field featuring flags will be staged at Tempe Beach Park (Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway) on Friday, Sept. 10, through Sunday, Sept. 12. There will be two special programs taking place on Saturday, Sept. 11. A memorial ceremony will occur at 5:46 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, the time (Arizona) the first plane struck the first tower, and will include the reading of the first responders that perished that tragic day. A Candlelight Vigil will also take place at 7 p.m.

"The Nutcracker" auditions -- Ballet Arizona
Ballet Arizona will hold open auditions for children’s roles in "The Nutcracker" on Sunday, Sept. 12. . The audition is open to all ballet student levels, boys and girls, ages 9–16.
