A motorcycle officer with the Tucson Police Department was injured late Thursday morning after his cycle apparently was clipped by a semi-truck.
It happened on Interstate 10 near the Valencia Road exit. The officer was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital to be treated. Initial reports were that he was "alert and conscious" at the scene.
A spokesperson for Rural Metro Fire says the motorcycle and semi-truck "clipped" and it caused the officer to be thrown from the cycle.
Fox 11 Video Journalist Kevin Adger is on scene and reports the motorcycle ended up under the front wheels of the semi-truck.
Traffic on eastbound I-10 was backed up for miles during the investigation.
