NASA using specially equipped planes to study Hurricane Earl

PHOENIX -- NASA has launched a new mission to keep a very close eye on Hurricane Earl as it bears down on the East Coast. They're flying over the hurricane with a fleet of specially equipped airplanes.

April Warnecke talked to NASA hurricane scientist Jeff Halverson, who is based at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. He explains how NASA is studying the storm.
