TUCSON, Ariz. -- Another graduate of Tucson High School has lost his life in service to his nation.

The family of Martin Lugo Jr. confirmed to Fox 11 News that they were notified this morning by military authorities of his death.

Friends of the family report Lugo died in Afghanistan earlier this week.

The family says Martin Lugo Jr., was a 2004 graduate of Tucson High School. He becomes the second graduate of that school to die in the past five weeks. Word came on July 14 that Chris Moon, a former star pitcher on the THS baseball team, had been killed in Afghanistan.

Jesse Lugo, the uncle of Martin Lugo Jr., says the family is gathering this afternoon and will discuss initial details of services.

An official announcement from the Pentagon on the death usually comes about 24 hours after the family is notified. That should include more details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
