PHOENIX – Customers at a local Walmart store were evacuated during a reported armed robbery.
A spokesperson with Phoenix police tells 3TV they responded to a Walmart store located near 75th Avenue and Buckeye Road on Wednesday night after someone called from inside the store threatening to shoot an officer.
Police are searching for a possible suspect inside the Walmart Superstore. A man who was reportedly an unhappy customer after purchasing money grams called the store and made threats to store managers over the phone before hanging up the phone.
Store employees later thought they spotted the customer in question inside the store which prompted the store’s evacuation and the police response.
Phoenix police patrol cars surrounded the store and surrounding areas for hours while officers searched the store.
No injuries were reported and the search continues for the possibly disgruntled customer.
