SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - A police chase ends with two arrests after leaving a wake of smashed cars during the evening rush hour on Friday.

Police say a woman was behind the wheel of a red car on Friday evening which had been eluding police for about an hour until it crashed into a white PT Cruiser and then into a blue sedan at 92nd Street and McDowell Road.

Police surrounded the suspect's car, smashed out the windows and took the woman and her male passenger into custody.

Police say the woman and her male passenger allegedly carjacked the vehicle at another location. They then led police on a chase that lasted for about an hour and stretched from the west side to the east Valley.

The situation started on the Gila River Indian Reservation when police attempted to pull over the suspect for speeding and then gunfire was exchanged.

At one point, the suspects carjacked a woman and her car is the one that ended up crashing with two other vehicles before the man and woman were taken into custody.
