Daisy Mountain fire chief loses his battle with cancer

NEW RIVER, Ariz. - The Daisy Mountain Fire Department lost longtime Fire Chief Tom Healy to cancer.

Friday morning Chief Healy died after a fight with lung cancer.

Chief Healy was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2009 and began aggressive treatment for the disease all the while he remained dedicated to serving the fire department and the community.

Chief Healy was head of the Daisy Mountain Fire Department for the past eleven years. He was with the Phoenix Fire Department for thirty years.

Recently Chief Healy was awarded the AZ Fire Chiefs Association's Lifetime Achievement award for his work and dedication to the fire service.

Funeral services will be announced when they become available.
