2 Unrelated fires keep firefighters busy in West ValleyPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX and GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Two unrelated fires in the West Valley kept firefighters from both Phoenix and Glendale busy early Friday morning.
The first fire was at a home in the area of 65th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene, flames were shooting from the roof.
Everybody inside the home got out safely.
While no injuries were reported, firefighters ran into a potentially bad situation when they went into the backyard and discovered two pit bulls that were defending their territory.
The other fire was at an apartment complex on Camelback Road at 40th Avenue.
The fire was on both the second and third floors when firefighters got there.
Crews managed to contain the flames to just those apartments.
No injuries were reported, but Camelback Road was closed for a short time. It has since been re-opened.
It not yet known what sparked either of the fires.
