3 Suspects on the loose after armed robbery at Mesa McDonald's

MESA, Ariz. -- Police in are searching for three suspects in a late-night armed robbery at a Mesa fast-food restaurant.

It happened just before midnight at the McDonald's at Country Club Drive and McKellips Road. Three employees were working at the time. While the dining room was closed, the drive-through was still open for business.

According to Michael Melendez of the Mesa Police Department, three men threw a baseball-size rock through the drive-through window and climbed inside.

One of those suspects pulled and handgun and ordered the employees to the floor. The armed man grabbed the manager, took her into the office and ordered her to open the safe.

The man grabbed an unknown amount and cash and then he and his accomplices left through a back door.

No vehicle was seen.

Police said the three suspects are described as being between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall with thin builds. They were wearing blue sweaters and baggy pants and all them had their faced covered by bandannas.

Only one of the three suspects appeared to have been armed.

The McDonald's employees were not hurt.
