Rialto Theatre forced to change muralPosted: Updated:
The mural outside the Rialto Theatre has a new look.
A couple of weeks ago the theater was served with a notice of violation from the city of Tucson. Apparently, the murals before this one were not considered artwork but rather signs without a permit.
"We been rotating them out every six weeks we also had two murals going at any given time. I think what we need to do now is put together a presentation and meet with the sign code advisory board," says Douglas Biggers of the Rialto Theatre Foundation.
The current mural which represents the Rialto's 90 year contribution to the city will remain on the wall, until the issues with the city are worked out.
