Deputies asking for public's help in tracking down Apache Junction sex assault suspect

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. - Law enforcement is asking for the public's help in finding a sexual assault suspect accused of kidnapping and raping a woman in Apache Junction.
According to the adult female victim she was kidnapped and raped in Apache Junction by a known acquaintance.
Pinal County Sheriff's Office reports the suspect, Steven Lee James, 47, and victim left an Apache Junction residence and she was sexually assaulted multiple times at knife point in the suspect's vehicle.
She was then forced to drive to several ATM locations in Phoenix and forced at knife point to withdraw money so James could leave Arizona.
Phoenix police responded to a Circle K at 15th Avenue and Thomas Road around 5 a.m. on Wednesday after the clerk called 911 in reference to James and the victim arguing.
James fled the scene eastbound on foot leaving his knife and car behind.
James is a white male, 5'9'' tall, 130 pounds, light brown shoulder length hair, blue eyes with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue and gray plaid shirt and blue jeans.
