PHOENIX -- A formation of Army helicopters stopped off in the Valley overnight. They're on their way to California, but their ultimate destination will be in Afghanistan.

The 20 aircraft and 400 servicemen and women landed at Deer Valley Airport Monday night after a flight from Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Their next stop is Fort Irwin in California, where they will train for the next few months before heading to Afghanistan.

Bruce Haffner was at Deer Valley Airport when the choppers took off.
