Family is facing long list of charges related to beer for drugs crime ring

TEMPE, Ariz. - A family is behind bars after they allegedly were operating a crime ring stealing beer to trade for drugs.

Apparently the crimes were a family affair.

Antonio Tavena was the first one to get arrested and the suspected rind leader.

Police later charged his brother Manuel, sister Elizabeth along with their cousins, Isabel Nunez and Jessica Coronado.

The group allegedly targeted Circle K convenience stores, would walk in and take beer from the refrigerators and walk out. No force was ever used.

Occasionally they would drink the beer other time trade it for methamphetamines.

The group is facing 93 felony charges related to the alleged robberies.

Tempe police say the robberies took place during a 32 day stretch between April 18 to May 18.
