Scottsdale mom wakes, finds baby not breathingPosted: Updated:
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police are investigating after a woman woke up Thursday morning and found her baby wasn't breathing.
Police officers responded to the home near Thomas and Scottsdale roads at approximately 7:30 a.m. Paramedics with the Scottsdale Fire Department confirmed the baby's death.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, the mother said she was sleeping in her bed with her 4-year-old son and 5-month-old baby boy.
Her two other children, ages 6 and 7, were in other beds in the room.
The mom was awakened by an alarm at 7:30 a.m. and noticed the infant was not breathing.
She alerted her sister, who was sleeping in another bedroom, and they called 911.
The mother said she last saw the baby alive at midnight when she fed him.
Police said there were no signs of medical distress or illness and have found no obvious signs of how the baby died. They are awaiting the results from the medical examiner's office to determine manner and cause of death.
The mother and other occupants of the home reportedly are cooperating with the investigation.
