TEMPE, Ariz. -- A chase that started on Interstate 10 near Guadalupe ended with a wreck on the eastbound U.S. 60 off ramp to Mill Avenue Friday morning.
According to the Department of Public Safety, officers tried to stop a car for excessive speed shortly after 7:30 a.m. The driver took off and a chase ensued. DPS said the suspect vehicle was traveling more than 100 mph at times.
The driver eventually got off the freeway at Mill Avenue. That's where it got into a wreck.
Aerial video showed two cars smashed up against a semi. The wreck was blocking two lanes of the off ramp.
The driver of the suspect vehicle ditched the car and ran away on foot. A DPS officer tased him and took him into custody.
Investigators have not said why the driver refused to stop.
