Brewer calls ruling "temporary bump"Posted: Updated:
PHOENIX (AP) -- Gov. Jan Brewer says it's just a "bump in the road" that a federal judge blocked key parts of Arizona's immigration enforcement law from taking effect Thursday.
Brewer says she's disappointed by the ruling.
But she notes that it doesn't block a provision barring local governments from restricting the enforcement of federal immigration laws.
Brewer says the fight isn't over and that the state will soon appeal Judge Susan Bolton's ruling to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
In Brewer's words, "this fight is far from over."
Her Democratic election opponent, Attorney General Goddard said Brewer played politics with immigration and lost by signing a bill she can't defend in court.
