MARICOPA, Ariz. -- Police say a 22-year-old man was beaten with a baseball bat at a house party in Maricopa early Sunday morning.
Eyewitnesses told police that the owner of the home, Chad George, 22, and the victim got into an argument.
According to Maricopa police Sgt. Stephen Judd, a female bystander who was attempting to intervene was inadvertently hit. At that point, the fight became physical and George allegedly hit the victim several times in the upper body and head with an aluminum baseball bat.
Judd said the victim, a 22-year-old Maricopa man, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Maricopa County Medical Center in Phoenix.
George was booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument. Several other people at the scene were cited for underage drinking.
