Chilling 911 call made after deadly boat crash on Lake PleasantPosted: Updated:
LAKE PLEASANT, Ariz. -- 3TV has obtained a chilling 911 call made at Lake Pleasant during the Fourth of July weekend when a woman was killed after two boats collided.
"We're in the middle of nowhere and there's blood everywhere and my friend, I think she's dead," the caller said.
A report from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the operators of the two boats appeared to be under the influence of alcohol when one watercraft ran over the other.
Amber Marks, 32, of Mesa suffered major trauma to her head, face and an arm. She was killed instantly.
Three other people on her boat were hurt, including the operator, Eddie Soto, who suffered a deep cut to his right leg.
Deputies said Soto's breath smelled like alcohol before paramedics took him to a hospital.
Investigators also took a blood sample from the other boat operator, Richard Ronco.
Ronco told deputies he was going about 40 miles per hour prior to the collision. Ronco said the victims' boat turned in front of him before his boat ran over them.
No charges have been filed at this time.
