Flash flood warning out for Coconino County

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- A flash flood warning is out for central Coconino County until 1:15 p.m. Thursday.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff says Doppler radar indicated flash flooding from a thunderstorm over the warning area.

Heavy rainfall amounts are falling from slow moving storms over the Schultz burn area with rain gauges in the area indicating over one inch per hour of precipitation.

Heavy rain may trigger debris flows with normally dry washes in the warning area becoming quickly inundated by floodwater and a slurry of sand, silt and rocks.

Forecasters say it's possible buildings, roads and culverts may be damaged by floodwaters.
