Phoenix man sentenced to life for shooting police officerPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - A Phoenix man who shot a police officer two years ago will spend the rest of his life in prison.
A judge sentenced Aaron Lopez, 37, to 115-years behind bars.
He was charged with seven counts, including attempted murder. The court room was packed with observers today, many of them police officers who gave statements before the judge handed down the sentence.
Lopez shot Phoenix police Officer Jennifer Moore during a traffic stop in 2008. He then forced his way into a home, where he held a man hostage before eventually surrendering.
