U of A collecting old electronicsPosted: Updated:
If you have an old computer or electronics collecting dust in your home, the U of A is ready to take them off your hands.
The University Bookstore and information technology services are collecting cyber-junk all week.
You can bring in laptops, desktops, TV sets, as well as unwanted cords. The u of a then recycles all of that equipment.
"Everything's going to be environmentally safely recycled. All the hard drives will actually basically be chopped up in confetti sized pieces so no data will be able to be read on them. Everything else is actually going to California," says Computer Service Manager Daniel McConnell.
You can drop off your unwanted electronics behind the main student union near the traffic circle. Collection hours run from 10 A.M. To 4 P.M. Through Saturday.
