Suns closing deal with Toronto RaptorsPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX - Give Suns owner Robert Sarver credit. He didn't sit by after Amar’e Stoudemire left for New York.
The team is close to finalizing two deals that will give them a flexible and deep roster. The downside to the deals is the Suns give up a popular player, but that’s business in the NBA.
Leandro Barbosa is going to be traded to Toronto where former Suns general manager Bryan Colangelo is very familiar with him. The Suns shed themselves of a big salary for a player who is coming off his worst statistical season in Phoenix.
The Suns get back 6"10 Heido Turkoglu. The ten year veteran wasn't happy in Toronto and actually gave up quite a bit of money in order to facilitate the deal to the Suns. He is a very good offensive player.
The Suns will also add Josh Childress, a former top six pick by the Atlanta Hawks in 2004.
He has been in Greece the last couple of seasons. He can play two to three positions.
The deals will likely be announced by Wednesday at the latest from what 3TV Sports is told.
