Phoenix police arrest woman for husband's murder 5 years agoPosted: Updated:
PHOENIX -- Phoenix police have arrested a woman for the murder of her husband five years ago.
Larisa Garcia reported her husband of 10 years, Daniel, missing on May 6, 2005. Daniel Garcia, 79, was last seen at approximately 4 a.m. at his home near Highland Avenue and 16th Street in Phoenix.
Investigators suspected foul play at the time.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said detectives developed new information on the case in May, which led to Larisa Garcia's arrest on Thursday.
Garcia, 43, reportedly admitted her role in her husband's murder and the disposal of his body in Chinle, Ariz.
Crump said investigators, assisted by the FBI, recovered what they believe are human remains at the disposal site. They are working with the Phoenix police crime lab to verify identification.
Garcia was charged with second-degree murder.
