Police arrest suspect in robbery at Surprise Circle K

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for a Circle K robbery in Surprise on July 8.

At approximately 4 a.m. on July 8, an African-American male entered the Circle K at 12707 W. Grand Ave. and took cigarettes from a display.

According to Surprise police Lt. John Bacon, the suspect then demanded money from the register and the clerk complied.

The suspect left the store on foot with the cigarettes and cash.

No weapon was seen during the robbery and no one was hurt.

Police put out a flyer with the suspect's description and surveillance photos.

According to Surprise police Sgt. Mark Ortega, an El Mirage police officer recognized the suspect from the flyer and contacted him on the street at about 1:37 a.m. Monday.

The man, John Moore, was detained on suspicion of robbery and Surprise police officers were summoned. Moore reportedly admitted to committing the robbery.
