Surprise woman injured in overnight home invasion, suspects on the loosePosted: Updated:
SURPRISE , Ariz. -- Police in Surprise are investigating an early morning home invasion that sent a woman to the hospital Thursday.
It happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the area of 174th Avenue and Greenway Road.
According to police, two men forced their way into the home. The homeowners -- an older man and woman -- were both awake at the time.
The suspects went into the couple's bedroom and took several bottles of prescription drugs. They then left through the front door.
The woman was injured when the suspects broke in. Her injuries were not life-threatening, but she was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Both suspects are still on the loose. Police said they are described as Hispanic males -- one might be Caucasian -- in their 20s or 30s. One suspect reportedly was wearing a covering over his face.
Neither of the victims, whose names have not been released, saw any weapons. The case is under investigation.
