Missing Mesa teen that left with known sex offender found

MESA, Ariz. - Mesa police has been notified by the California Highway Patrol that missing teenager Alyssa Cavagnaro, 13, and 19-year-old Gary LeGault have been located in Monterey, Calif. just off Highway 1 in Monterey County.

Both teens were reportedly involved in a single-vehicle rollover at about 3 p.m. on Thursday and fled the scene into a wooded area. Both were located about one hour after they fled.

The teens were not injured in the rollover and were taken into custody without incident.

Alyssa Cavagnaro was last seen Tuesday night at her home in Mesa near Alma School and Guadalupe roads.

According to police, she took her mother's car and debit card and ran away.

Investigators were referring to Alyssa as an "endangered runaway." The teen was with Gary "Chris" Legault, 19-year-old who is on probation for a prior sex offense involving an underage girl.

He is prohibited from being around minors, and is not allowed to have any communication with them.
