CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Chandler police say alcohol was a factor in a fatal collision Tuesday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday, Chandler police officers responded to the intersection of Galveston and 56th streets for a serious rollover collision.

According to Detective David Ramer, a car traveling east on Galveston Street at a high rate of speed went through a stop sign and collided with an SUV traveling south on 56th Street.

Both vehicles rolled over and the driver of the SUV was ejected. The SUV driver was taken to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

The driver of the car, identified as Frank Jennings Jr., 26, of Chandler, was booked into the Maricopa County Jail charged with manslaughter.

Ramer said it appears Jennings was under the influence of alcohol and possibly drugs.
