Arizona's Chris Young named NL All-StarPosted: Updated:
NEW YORK -- Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young has been named the club's lone selection to the National League All-Star team.
Young was selected as a reserve Sunday for the July 13th All-Star game in Anaheim, Calif. After struggling last year, the 26-year-old has slugged 15 home runs and 57 RBIs this season while batting .264.
Young will represent a last-place club that has compiled just a 32-50 record through Sunday.
Arizona fired manager A.J. Hinch and general manager Josh Byrnes on Thursday night. The team is on pace to shatter the major league record for strikeouts in the season and its bullpen statistically is one of the worst the game has known.
