Apartment burglar caught red-handed in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Scottsdale police detectives caught a robbery suspect red-handed Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Scottsdale Police Department, detectives developed leads that pointed to Nicholas Otto, 21, of Scottsdale, as being involved in multiple burglaries.

At 1 p.m. Tuesday, detectives watched as Otto gained entry into an apartment in the Casita Real complex at Indian School Road and 85th Street. Otto was arrested as he exited the apartment with jewelry and electronics.

A search warrant was served on Otto's home and vehicle and detectives found property from a different Casita Real unit.

Otto reportedly admitted his involvement in the burglaries and was booked on charges of burglary, theft and trafficking in stolen property.
