Woman's body found in burning Phoenix business; police investigating as homicide

PHOENIX - Firefighters discovered the body of a woman inside a burning real estate office in Phoenix on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators found the woman at about 5 p.m. at the business located near 35th Avenue and Orangewood.
Alfonso Verela, a man who lives nearby, tells 3TV he saw smoke and ran over to help. He even burst windows to see if anyone was inside. "The flames were...coming out of the window here on the side and when we tried to look inside after breaking the windows, the visibility was very small. I couldn't see maybe a foot in the building."
The victim has been identified as Blanca Acevedo, 50.
Phoenix police homicide and fire arson investigators have not determined the manner of death. However, the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
