Celebrate the Fourth at the Fort!Posted: Updated:
The Fourth of July is coming up and Fort McDowell Casino is the place to be. The Fort has one of the biggest Independence Day celebrations in town, and according to Sandra Grijalva, it goes on all weekend long.
The event kicks off Friday with a paid concert that's just "Too Legit To Quit" -- the one and only M.C. Hammer. SWV (Sisters With Voices) will also take the stage. General admission is $25; premium seating is $40. Parking is free. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m. Seats are first-come, first-served.
In honor of the holiday weekend, there will be fireworks after the show.
"We have an amazing setup," Grijalva said. "It's all choreographed to music and everything."
Saturday night, there's a free -- yes, free -- concert by the Ohio Players. Don't recognize the name? Don't worry! You definitely know their hit songs "Love Rollercoaster" and "Fire."
Again, the concert starts at 8 p.m., but the doors open at 4 p.m. -- a little earlier because it is free.
"You definitely want to get your seat early."
That show is also followed by fireworks.
