PHOENIX - Xavier senior Kaira Martin finished tied for second at the Elbit Systems of America Junior Championships in Texas.

The tournament is put on by the American Junior Golf Association and played at the Southern Oaks Golf Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

The event is a 54-hole stroke play event with 144 junior golfers from 14 states Canada, Mexico and the Philippines.

The boys division played the course at 7,124 yards and Martin and the girls played at 6,017 yards.

"I had a hole-in-on on No. 3 from 155 yards. I didn't see it and I thought it went passed the hole, but people started cheering, so I knew I made it."

Martin helped Xavier win the 5A state golf title last fall.
