Police locate man missing from Mesa group home

UPDATE -- June 29:
MESA, Ariz. -- Phoenix police located Roy Santa Cruz in the area of 13th Avenue and Portland. He was in good health.

MESA, Ariz. -- Police are asking for the public's help to find a man who has been missing since leaving his group home in Mesa Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Mesa Police Department, Roy Santa Cruz, 62, left his group home located near Baseline and Sossaman roads at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mesa police Detective Michael Melendez said Santa Cruz was placed in the home in May and is not free to leave the facility.

According to Melendez, Santa Cruz is mentally unstable and has not taken his required medication. Melendez added that Santa Cruz is a danger to himself and can become violent when off of his medication.

Santa Cruz is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 235 pounds. He has black hair, a black mustache and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a shirt. He has a tattoo of a spider on his right forearm.

It is unknown where Santa Cruz may go.
