Kathy Maly, Sonoita-Elgin Chamber of Commerce, says during Monday's interview the Chamber members are dedicated to providing top quality and friendly service to everyone who visits their establishments. She says businesses in the area include bed & breakfasts, ranches, retail, at-home businesses, real estate, restaurants and contractors. She says there are also 9 wineries in the Elgin area that are major contributors to the local economy.
During Tuesday's discussion, Maly says residents of the area are active in many endeavors, especially in the local Rotary Club. She says Sonoita-Elgin elevation is about 5,000 feet, making summers somewhat cooler than Tucson. She says the median age of residents is 55. The 9 area wineries and the local bed & breakfasts, she adds, benefit from the tourists traveling through the area.
On Wednesday's program, Maly says Sonoita and Elgin are scenic, rural communities that offer a quiet abd safe lifestyle to residents and visitors alike. She says the average temperature is 70 degrees, with highs topping out at 95 degrees. Winter lows can hit 20 degrees, she adds. Maly says the Chamber offers a web service to its members and assists them with promotional efforts.
