Glendale's Centennial Birthday Bash
Glendale's Centennial Birthday Bash runs through Saturday. The 100th anniversary will feature a celebration for the whole family with Centennial Nite Lights in Murphy Park, the debut of the Centennial postmark, which you can purchase as a memento, and many fun-filled activities. The final day of the celebration will be 100 hours of volunteering, with four volunteer projects throughout the city that will allow people a chance to give back to their community. • The Deer Valley Rock Art Center
On June 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors can bring their father to the Center for free! Pay one regular admission and dad is free as they celebrate fathers on this special day. The Deer Valley Rock Art Center has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix Valley. Visitors hike a 1/4-mile trail to view over 1,500 petroglyphs made between 800 and 5,000 years ago. The museum aims to promote preservation, connection and respect for the site and it is a destination for families to learn about archaeology in their own backyard. The Center is managed by one of the top archaeology programs in the country at Arizona State University and is a Phoenix Point of Pride. The center is located at 3711 W.
